World Vision

On Sunday, May 31, I talked about the work our church is doing in Malawi - a country afflicted by HIV/AIDS. According to the World Health Organization, you have a 55% of the people in Malawi will die between the ages of 15 to 60. 12% of the children will die before they turn 5 (that's compared to .08% in America).

AIDS is decimating the population. There are tens of thousands of orphans in a country of 13.5 million people. I've been there three times and everyone I met had at least one orphan in their home. To get an idea as how difficult the problem is and what World Vision is doing to address the issue, take a look at this video: "Faces of AIDS"

Having seen World Vision in action, I believe in the organization, they are saving souls and improving lives at the same time. I'm sold!

The great news is that we offered 100 children for sponsorship - all the children were picked up by the end of both services! To make it even better - we already sponsor 130 children. That means we care for 230 children!!!
