Behind the Scenes

I've realized that I have some wonderful experiences on Sunday morning that most people never share. I've decided that I'll blog about them on the Monday or Tuesday after services.

Have you notice the young woman in the worship ministry who plays the violin.  She's a new addition to the team. Living away from home at a local performing arts school, Sunday morning is a way of using her talent to bless God.  What I love is watching her approach the platform.  She kicks off her sandals and plays barefoot.  It reminds me that the platform is holy ground.

Vickie told me that all 100 children were sponsored on May 31.  World Vision sent us 34 more children.  They said that if we get sponsorship for these children, all the children of the region we're adopting will find sponsorship.  Yesterday, people took on 20 more children. That means we sponsor about 250 children!

Speaking of Vickie (Director of Children's Ministries), we go back a long way.  Before she was on staff (when I was youth pastor at FCCH), she came on some summer missions trips with the teens.  She would organize the chidren's ministry work that we do, equipping the teens to do the task.

If you were in first service, you missed the excitment.  Someone in second service brings her laptop to the service and broadcasts it through Skype to a soldier in Iraq.  Talk about long distance worship!  We stopped the service at one point to shout out to him and pray for him.  Pretty cool!

Isn't Sunday morning a great place?
