Moses' mother is another hero. We shouldn't minimize the story by removing the emotion. Setting your baby adrift in the waters, turning his safety and future over to God would have been heart wrenching. I love my children dearly. I can't imagine laying one down in a rowboat and setting them adrift in a river hoping that someone would give him life when the ruling powers have ordered death.
It makes me think about raising my children into adulthood. In many ways, I'm setting them off on their own, letting the currents of life carry them away. My hope is that the soveriegn God will guide them to a safe harbor where they can find people who will continue what Sheila and I have started. I hope that their siblings will even help as Moses' sister did for him.
God is still the great "I AM" - the one who has existed from before time and throughout time. Amazingly, He is also the God who watches over us - guiding even a child to a safe harbor.
